Payment processing is unavailable, and Project Maenad is shutting down
We have sad news to share. We can no longer process sales, and Project Maenad will shut down on May 1, 2019. Read more
Uploading your files and creating links
Plans, Storage and Bandwidth
Storage is the data used by the files in your albums. Bandwidth is the data transferred when customers download your content. Statistics about your storage and bandwidth usage are available on the Statistics page.
No - a file can be in multiple albums but will only count toward your total storage size once. (The Albums page lists the total size of the files in an album so you know how much bandwidth would be used by someone downloading a link to that album.) To see a list of your files and how much storage they use, see the storage report.
When your bandwidth is exceeded, we’ll send you an email. If it’s only a little over, we’ll just congratulate you on your thriving business. If it’s a lot over, we’ll talk to you about upgrading your plan or looking into ways to decrease your bandwidth usage. We hope we’ll always come to an agreement and never have to disable access; we’ll certainly never disable anything without a lot of warning.
When you upgrade from one paid plan to another, we add the remaining days of your current plan to your new plan. For example, if you're on the Basic plan and your next charge date is in 10 days, and you upgrade to the Plus plan, then you'll be charged $25 immediately, but you won't be charged again for 10 days plus one month (i.e. approximately 40 days, depending on what month it is).
To solve this, we’ll deduct monthly payments from sale payouts. If you’d prefer us not to, just let us know at support@projectmaenad@.com. (You might not want this if, for example, you need money immediately so you’d rather not deduct a future payment from the payout you’d otherwise get today.)
Sales and payouts
If you're on the free plan, you'll earn 70% of whatever you choose to charge for your content. All the paid plans earn 85%.
We pay out your earnings twice per month — on the 8th and the 23rd (Pacific Time). We have four payout methods:
- Mailed check within the USA (only for US-based models) - free
- ACH bank transfer (only for US-based models) - free
- Bank wire (anywhere except the USA) - $3
- Mailed check to Canada (only for Canada-based models) - $3
You'll need to meet the minimum payout in order to be paid for the current period ($50 for ACH or check within the USA, $100 for wire or check to Canada). If you don't meet the minimum payout, your earnings will be rolled forward to the next payment period.
Now that we're shutting down, we've changed the minimum payout to $0 for USA payouts, and $5 for international ones.
Albums have several statuses (Draft, Private, Public, and For Sale). Only For Sale albums will be offered for sale, because we don't want to presume to sell your albums without you explicitly approving that. You can set an album's status on the Manage Albums page.
If an album is set to For Sale and it still has that message, examine it on the Manage Albums page to see what's wrong. There should be a notice there describing the problem - that it's below the minimum price ($5.00), that its currency isn't USD*, or that you haven't uploaded your ID.
*We expect to support other currencies in the future, but only support USD for now.
Nope! We'll cover chargebacks and payment fraud.
If your customers have trouble downloading files, or difficulty playing them once downloaded, please refer them to us at email@example.com. We're familiar with the common issues that come up, and we're happy to guide them through it.
In case you do want to suggest things to them, various problems can be solved with the following free apps:
- most iPhone download problems can be solved with Files - File Manager and Browser;
- most iPad download problems can be solved with Files HD - File Manager and Browser;
- most Android download problems can be solved with Advanced Download Manager app.
- If a video downloads successfully but won't play, we recommend VLC Player, which runs on every platform.
Managing your profile and account
You can edit your personal details, cam site links, and profile picture in the corresponding pages under My Profile. If you know know CSS, you can use that to style your profile page too.
If you find that your content from Project Maenad has leaked on the public internet, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Depending on how it was leaked, we might be able to trace it to the particular customer who downloaded it from us.
Project Maenad can also file a DMCA takedown request on your behalf. Unfortunately, not all hosting sites comply with DMCA requirements, but in the few times this has come up, we find that this works most of the time.
This doesn't tend to happen at Project Maenad because we don't support messaging models. We do allow notes attached to tips, but giving someone money is an unsatisfying way to attack them. However, if you've been harassed at other sites, we'd like to ban them here too.
Please let us know what happened at email@example.com so we can ban the customer by email and IP address.
If you run a camsite or related site and would like to share your ban list, we'd love to work together to ban abusive customers from all our sites.
Sure! We made this site for camgirls, but anyone is welcome to use it if they find it useful. We have a few guys on the site, some non-camgirl adult performers, and at least one couple uses it to send images just to each other. (You must of course be 18 or older.)
We're so grateful and flattered to have received this question so much that it's worth putting here :)
Though Project Maenad has a sales system, most of what we do is provide a free file-delivery service, and it has become very expensive. (In October 2017, the hosting and bandwidth costs amounted to almost $6000, which is much more than we make in sales.) If you'd like to donate to Project Maenad, please send a tip to the ProjectMaenad model. Thank you!
Project Maenad uses modern security best practices, including salting and hashing login passwords, scanning our third-party library code with tools such as Github security alerts, encrypting all data connecting performers to their real identities, limiting even admin access to ID verification images after they've been approved, and obscuring real identity information on model accounts after it's been entered.
We're a US-based company, and we store data on US-based cloud services. Since our beginning in 2014, we've received no government requests for information, but if we were to receive a subpoena, we might be compelled to release data. We would push back on any that were overbroad or unnecessarily invasive of privacy. Our impression is that Project Maenad isn't a significant target of interest by law enforcement, and isn't likely to become one.
